I find great value in the printed word. In a world of digital devices, I enjoy contributing to the book world. I create unique journals, handsewn notebooks and sketchbooks, and list pads. I am also trained in constructional book repairs, and find great pleasure in giving books that are falling apart new life and usage.
Journals & Notebooks
Because some things are better when written rather than typed, my journals, notebooks and list pads are ready for lead or ink. Whether it’s a journal entry, a pencil sketch, or even just a jotted note, my books are useful for varying lifestyles. I use more traditional materials like book cloth, silks, leathers and cottons to make hardcover books with blank, lined, or sketching paper. Specialty papers, chip board, and even trading cards and VHS tape covers to create notepads, pocketbooks, and list pads. I handsew my books with love and care. I also use archival and acid-free glue, allowing your journal or sketchbook to last through the ages. Here is a selection of some of the books I’ve created in the past, and check out my Etsy shop for a selection available for purchase. For the most current selections, visit me locally at one of my upcoming events.

Repairs & Restorations
Over time books can deteriorate and fall apart. The mixture of light and air, the oils from your fingers, the physical constraints of a book in a bookcase, and maybe even water exposure, all contribute to wear and tear of a book. I specialize in constructional restorations of books, whether they are antique and old or just kid-damaged, I can bring life back to those books that are in need of some TLC. I use archival glues and tried-and-true bookbinding techniques to strengthen and secure broken books. I work in a variety of materials including bookcloth, silks, buckrams and leathers to preserve the longevity of the book. All book repairs are done by hand without the use of machinery. Not to say my book repairs aren’t beautiful, but I do not specialize in cosmetic book restorations, or restorations concentrating on painting or coloring book covers or pages. My main focus of my book restorations is to preserve the purpose of the book – allowing the owner to handle the book and read it! I feel books should always be usable; age and condition can interrupt the purpose of the book, and I take joy in prolonging the structure of a book in order for it to be used for many more years to come.
